Website Terms of Use
Last updated: 4 October 2026. Version 1.0.
1. About these terms
1.1 Who we are
These websites are run by IRL Ventures Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (number 16463901), registered office The Wheelhouse, Angel Court, 81 St Clement's Street, Oxford OX4 1AW, trading as IRL Oxford, Date IRL and IRL UNI ("IRL", "we", "us"). Postal address: 3 Chapel Street, Oxford OX4 1XL. Contact: team@irloxford.co.uk or WhatsApp 07376 715840. VAT number GB 502 0137 60.
1.2 What these terms cover
These terms apply to your use of irloxford.co.uk, any other website or web app we run that links to these terms, and any domain that redirects to them, such as eastoxirl.co.uk (together, "our sites").
By using our sites, you accept these terms. If you don't accept them, please don't use our sites.
1.3 Other terms that may apply
- Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy explain how we use your data on our sites.
- Our Event Terms apply when you book or attend an event.
- Our B2B Terms apply when your business or organisation works with us.
- Our Code of Conduct and Photography and Filming Policy apply to our events and community channels.
- When you follow a link to Fixr, Eventbrite, Meetup, WhatsApp, Instagram or another platform, that platform's own terms apply.
1.4 Changes
We may update these terms at any time by changing this page. Please check it from time to time. The version on this page when you use our sites is the one that applies.
2. Using our sites
2.1 Acceptable use
You may use our sites for lawful purposes only. You must not:
- use our sites in any way that breaks the law or is fraudulent, or harms or tries to harm anyone, including under-18s;
- send, upload or link to anything that is defamatory, obscene, hateful, harassing, or infringes anyone's rights;
- introduce viruses, malware or anything else harmful, or try to gain unauthorised access to our sites, servers, databases or accounts;
- attack our sites through a denial-of-service attack or similar;
- use robots, scrapers, crawlers or other automated tools to copy, monitor or extract content or data from our sites, or to buy tickets, without our written permission;
- submit false, misleading or spam enquiries, or enquiries in someone else's name without their permission;
- use our forms or contact details to send marketing or unsolicited messages; or
- frame our sites, or make it look as if we endorse you, your business or your content.
We may suspend access, block IP addresses, or report suspected crimes to the police if these terms are broken.
2.2 Enquiry forms and planners
- Sending an enquiry through our "Plan your event" or "Partner with IRL" planners, or any other form, does not create a booking or contract. A booking or agreement only exists when we confirm it in writing.
- Make sure what you send us is accurate, and only give us other people's details if you're allowed to.
- If you choose "Send on WhatsApp", WhatsApp opens with your message ready. Nothing reaches us until you press send in WhatsApp, and WhatsApp's own terms apply.
- Reference numbers shown after you send are for your convenience. They don't confirm availability or prices.
2.3 Event information and figures
We try to keep event details, prices, venues and line-ups up to date, but they can change, and the booking page or your confirmation is the definitive version. Figures on our sites about our community, events and partners (for example member numbers, events run or revenue generated for partners) describe activity across IRL's events and channels, for general information only. They are not a promise of results for any individual event or partnership.
2.4 Our content and brands
- We own, or are licensed to use, all content on our sites, including text, photos, video, graphics, designs, code and the look and feel of our pages. It is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
- IRL, IRL Oxford, Date IRL, Date IRL, IRL UNI, IRL Uni, the "irl" wordmark and its dot symbols, and our taglines are our brands. You may not use them, or anything confusingly similar, without our written permission, except to refer to us accurately.
- You may view, print and share links to our pages for personal use. You may not copy, reproduce, republish, sell or commercially exploit our content without our written permission.
- Photos and video of people at our events are covered by our Photography and Filming Policy. Don't download or reuse them.
2.5 Content you send us
If you send us feedback, ideas, photos, testimonials or other content, you confirm you have the right to do so. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use it as we described when we asked for it, or for the purpose you sent it for. We won't publish your personal content or testimonial without asking you first. You keep ownership of what you send.
2.6 Links to other sites
Our sites link to other sites and platforms, such as Fixr, Eventbrite, Meetup, WhatsApp, Instagram and venue websites. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content, availability or how they handle your data. A link doesn't mean we endorse them.
3. Availability, liability and the law
3.1 Availability
Our sites are free to use. We don't guarantee they will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free or free of viruses. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of them at any time, for example for maintenance. Use your own virus protection.
3.2 If you use our sites as a consumer
- We don't exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that can't be excluded by law.
- Our sites are for personal use. We're not liable to you for any loss of profit, business, business interruption or business opportunity.
- Otherwise, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for loss or damage that wasn't foreseeable.
- If defective digital content we supply damages a device or other digital content belonging to you, and it's caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill, we'll either repair the damage or pay you compensation. We're not liable for damage you could have avoided by following our advice to apply an update offered to you free of charge, or by meeting minimum system requirements we told you about.
3.3 If you use our sites as a business
- Nothing limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.
- We exclude all implied conditions, warranties, representations or other terms that may apply to our sites or their content.
- We're not liable to you for any loss or damage, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, our sites, or your use of or reliance on any content on them.
- In particular, we're not liable for loss of profits, sales, business or revenue; business interruption; loss of anticipated savings; loss of business opportunity, goodwill or reputation; or any indirect or consequential loss or damage.
- Any agreement you make with us for services is governed by our B2B Terms, not this section.
3.4 Suspending your access
We may stop you using our sites, or any feature, if we reasonably believe you've broken these terms.
3.5 General
- If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- If we don't insist that you do something straight away, we can still require it later.
- Only you and we have rights under these terms.
3.6 The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you're a consumer, you can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in your own country's courts. If you're a business, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
