It always does. Then the thread goes quiet and nothing happens. So we stopped waiting for the group chat and started doing something about it.
This is the something.
Since April 2025 we've put on 140+ events for 8,000+ people on our channels, with 450+ at our biggest day out. It all started in one back garden.
It started with a BBQ.
I arrived in Oxford in 2022 after finishing graduate school. It's a brilliant city, but because I wasn't connected to the university, it took me a while to find my people.
So in April 2025, not wanting to spend my birthday alone, I threw myself a party and opened my back garden for a BBQ and invited strangers from across the city.
It was a huge success, and I made new friends. Suki came that day, and she never left.
What struck me at that first BBQ was how many people had the same story. New to Oxford or here for years, it didn't matter. Everyone wanted a better social life, and nobody knew where to start. So we kept throwing BBQs until we accidentally created a company.
